This time of year
you will find that all golf courses start hollow tinning their fairways and
greens in preparation for the summer months to come. Booking venues months
in advance can sometimes cause a few hiccups, as it did with our game this
week, but by knowing hollow tinning was being started, we were lucky enough
to be able to change our venue and re-arranged a game at La Serena where
their hollow tinning had already been done. The course it’s self was
reasonable, but the greens were very sandy to putt on, but once you got your
head around it and realised you needed to strike the ball harder to the
hole, it didn’tseem too bad,
and it certainly didn’t bother our teams of four playing a Yellow Ball
Competition, in fact, the scoring was good and close in some cases, with the
first team coming in with 164 points, second team with 156 points, on count
back with the third team, who also had 156 points, and fourth team with 155
points. Handicap Secretary Joe Dean picked up 3 of the nearest the pin
prizes, with the fourth nearest the pin going to Ken Flaherty.

Wednesday whether you wish to become a member or not. We’re a friendly bunch
so even if you’re just here on holiday and you want to squeeze a game in,

The weather today was perfect for golf with warm sunshine and very little breeze; could this be the start of the hot weather to come? It was our second visit to Campoamor this year and what a difference a few months have made. The course this time was in excellent condition, and with the rough being that little bit longer, it certainly helped if your ball ran off to the left. The greens where very good and readable, which seemed to go down well with our members, hence the scoring was much higher this time with member John Eyre scoring 40 points, closely followed by Glen Rapley with 39 points and 4 other members all with 37points, more cuts to be had. After the game, it was of no surprise, when some of our members asked when we could come back. With a tight schedule this year, one never knows of any changes that might crop up, so as you know, we will always keep you informed. Full results can be found on our web site .
