Due to the poor turnout at Bonalba (17-6-09, 11 players)The Captain called for an Extraordinary committee meeting,which took place on Monday 22-6-09.

The main points on the agenda came from Barry Roehrig in the way of a letter that he wrote to all of the committee members earlier that week,that the Society had returned to the old circuit of the 4 courses around Alicante,and that the reason for this was that some committee members were getting free golf because of it.After a long meeting it was decided that the committee would hold an open forum after the game at Alenda on the 24th June 2009.

At the forum it was established that the folowing committee members received free golf and for the following reasons.

1. Captain :- The Captain has the privilege of 2 free rounds of golf per month for the duration of his Captain's Year.This is a long established benefit which has been reflected in the annual accounts for the last number of years,

2. The Secretary (Ron Nicholson) stated that he received free golf at all of the courses in the immediate area,This he said was due to his long service,not only to S.M.G.S. but also to the original Costa Blanca League and the current Vega Baja League (he is the Tresurer).

3.The President :- Ray explained that he had free golf at several golf courses and reduced green fees at others due to him being the owner of Greenlands Golf Complex.

4. Joe Dean explained that due to him being a profesional,it was a privilege that went with the profession.

POINT 2

It was put to the members that,for several reasons including that the Secretary books the courses a year in advance that in some cases it was difficult to change them at the last moment.

The Chair, invited suggestions from the floor, with no definate concusions drawn,the subject of future venues will be discussed at the next committee meetings and the findings reported to the members by way of minutes of the meetings being avalible within 7 days of the C.M. and also posted on our Web site.

The President then invited Barry Roehrig to join the committee, who welcomed to opportunity.

In the coming days a Page will appear on the web site where members coments and suggestions will be posted for all to see .There you will also find a special e-mail address to which you can send you coments,alturnatively any member will be able to submit there comments on paper, signed and handed to a committee member.

It was of general concensus that the Society needs to move forward in a positve manner or it could fall be the way side.
